Position Summary
Will provide program processes and oversight for permit coordination, review, tracking and compliance monitoring. Site visits of proposed projects, final inspections and closeout, attendance at pre‑construction meetings.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain and update the Webber Permit Processing Program.
- Perform field inspections of utility, access, special use, drainage, house‑moving, road‑closure and landscaping permits during and after construction to determine compliance with contract plans and specifications.
- Act as a representative in providing information to FDOT regarding policy concerning permits when requested; coordinate and handle problems that may occur between Permittee, the public, utility companies and FDOT.
- Serve as subject‑matter consultant to staff in the review of permitted plans and specifications throughout the permit lifecycle, including reviewing the approved permit package and plan set and understanding current FDOT specs.
- Make daily field reviews of assigned permits to determine compliance with the approved permit plan and conduct pre‑construction conferences prior to any work start for work‑initiated permits.
- Conduct weekly meetings with the project manager to summarize permit status, findings, and any pertinent communications with FDOT.
- Present and be ready for work every workday on time.
- Be available for after‑hours calls and reviews pertaining to permit issues.
- Identify opportunities for changes and improvements in work methods, processes, efficiency and cost reduction.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, design standards and manuals.
- Effective verbal and written communication of technical information.
- Proficiency operating computer, tablet, smartphone and required software.
- Familiarity with Webber software for uploading inspection reports, reviewing and submitting reports; ability to lead a team without direct reporting responsibilities.
- Highly developed safety awareness and perceptive ability.
- Commitment to working injury‑free and recognition of hazards inherent in routine and non‑routine tasks.
- Ability to communicate co‑worker safety instructions.
- Ability to think clearly and focus on immediate surroundings while properly using equipment as instructed.
- High School or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in related industry.
- Clean, valid driver’s license required.
- FDOT CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I (preferred).
- Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors.
- Must drive from site to site, stopping and evaluating multiple site locations throughout the day.
- Use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms.
- Vision required for close and distance tasks and ability to adjust focus.
- Must practice safe work methods to remain accident and injury free.
- Must have the ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non‑routine tasks and adjust to avoid loss, injury or accident.
- Job performed usually in a field environment.
- Noise level in the work environment can be loud.
