Equipment Reliability Engineer

The Equipment Reliability Engineer will be responsible for defining and executing the long-term reliability roadmap for our site/facility. This role focuses on transitioning our maintenance strategy from reactive to proactive/predictive, optimizing equipment uptime, and integrating digital tools to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Essential Functions:

  • Reliability Roadmap Development:
Establish and lead a multi-year strategy to improve equipment reliability, focusing on MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and MTTR (Mean Time To Repair).
  • PM/PdM Optimization:
Audit current Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules. Redesign and implement predictive maintenance (PdM) techniques (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis) to move toward a Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM) approach.
  • Capital Upgrades & Obsolescence:
Identify critical equipment at end-of-life. Manage the technical scope and execution of equipment upgrades and retrofits to improve performance and safety.
  • Digital Integration:
Lead the deployment and optimization of OEE software and asset management systems. Drive data-driven decision-making by utilizing analytics to identify performance bottlenecks.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA):
Lead RCA investigations for chronic equipment failures, ensuring permanent corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership:
Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure reliability requirements are integrated into the daily production schedule.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Proven ability to lead cultural changes in complex manufacturing environments
  • Strong facilitation and coaching capability
  • Demonstrated influence without direct authority
  • Data-driven decision making
  • Executive communication and presentation skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including project implementation and process improvement roles
  • Proficiency in reliability methodologies (RCM, FMEA, RCA)
  • Hands-on experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and OEE monitoring software
  • Previous experience in managing equipment upgrade projects (CAPEX)
