Job Summary

The Design Drafter II is responsible for designing project‑specific industrial water treatment systems, including heater, wastewater filtration, clean water filtration, and RO system, based on available standards to meet customer specifications. The drafter will create 3D models, 2D drawings, sheet metal flat patterns, and add parts and assemblies to an ERP system, as well as review designs of other drafters. The Drafter II facilitates internal workflow and collaborates with Project Management, Engineering, Planning, Purchasing, and Production.
Responsibilities- Review customer specifications and follow the project engineer’s instructions to prepare system layouts.
- Prepare 3D models and assemblies using applicable standards.
- Develop new ETO and standard designs.
- Prepare 2D drawings, BOMs, and laser cutting files.
- Add new parts and assemblies to the ERP system.
- Maintain design revisions using the ECO‑ECN process via PLM and ERP systems.
- Coordinate with project managers and engineers to establish essential functions and deadlines for project completion.
- Determine appropriate methods to create drawings using either a CAD template customized to the client’s requirements, a standard template, or by updating an existing CAD file.
- Review drawings from other drafters to ensure alignment with scoping and corporate drafting standards.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
- Associate degree in Drafting or CAD Technology with 2‑3 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform essential duties (8 years of mechanical engineering experience in lieu of degree).
- Design experience, including sheet metal and weldment designs of 1‑2 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with 3D and 2D design software packages such as Autodesk Inventor (preferred), Solid Works, and AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with PLM packages such as Autodesk Vault (preferred), Solid Works PDM, and Teamcenter.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SAP.
- Experience in the water treatment industry.
- Knowledge of design for six sigma (DFSS) and lean manufacturing.
- Experience developing standards using Autodesk Inventor iAssemblies.
- Hands‑on design test of Autodesk Inventor proficiency will be conducted.
