Job Title:
Mechanical Engineer
Location:
Clearwater, FL
Duration: 3 Month Contract
Work Mode:
Onsite
Pay: $42.00 per hour, W2 Summary:
- Contract position only for 13 weeks - Full-time employee on medical leave.
- Working Hours:
Monday-Friday 8AM to 5PM (1 hr lunch).
- Design functional, reliable, and cost-effective heavy‑duty vehicle components.
- Perform engineering analysis and design or redesign, and development of components into existing and new vehicles.
- Under close supervision, perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to company as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.
- Support senior engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
- Work on projects of limited complexity in a support role under close supervision.
- Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
- Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.
- Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures.
- Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
- Perform and direct preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
- Perform engineering analysis to support the selection of parts, components, and materials that meet requirements.
- Provide non‑complex technical assistance for production support.
- Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication.
- Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
- Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs.
- Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering and communicate status via verbal or written communication.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field along with internship experience or six (6) or more months of related work experience.
Skills:
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy‑vehicle equipment and related systems.
- Experience with a high‑level CAD system.
- Custom modular aluminum body experience is a huge plus.
- Solid Works proficiency.
- AutoCAD/Draft Sight familiarity.
- Aluminum sheet metal and extrusion weldments.
