Our client is a highly respected consulting engineering firm seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its growing team in Clearwater, Florida. This position plays a key leadership role in the design and delivery of complex commercial, healthcare, institutional, industrial, and mixed-use building projects.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida with extensive experience designing electrical systems for buildings while collaborating closely with Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection engineering teams. This role requires advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit and a passion for delivering innovative, code-compliant engineering solutions.

Position Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the electrical engineering design of building systems from concept through construction administration. Working alongside HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Structural, and Architectural professionals, this individual will ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable building codes and engineering standards.

This position includes technical leadership, client interaction, mentoring junior engineers, and coordination across multidisciplinary project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering design for commercial, healthcare, education, hospitality, government, industrial, and institutional building projects.
  • Design complete building electrical systems including:
  • Emergency and standby power
  • Generator systems
  • UPS systems
  • Low-voltage infrastructure
  • Coordinate electrical designs with HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection engineering disciplines.
  • Produce construction documents utilizing Autodesk Revit.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, short circuit studies, voltage drop calculations, and equipment sizing.
  • Develop one-line diagrams, panel schedules, lighting layouts, specifications, and engineering reports.
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • NFPA standards
  • Local jurisdiction requirements
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and contractor requests during construction.
  • Conduct field investigations and site observations.
  • Attend client meetings and coordinate with owners, architects, contractors, and project managers.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
  • Maintain project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Assist with proposal development and technical presentations as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Florida (Required).
  • Minimum 8+ years of electrical engineering experience in MEP consulting.
  • Strong experience designing electrical systems for commercial building projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit.
  • Experience using AutoCAD.
  • Thorough knowledge of:
  • NEC
  • NFPA
  • Strong understanding of coordination with HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Healthcare, laboratory, higher education, municipal, or mission-critical project experience.
  • Experience with SKM, ETAP, Visual Lighting, or similar electrical analysis software.
  • LEED Accreditation or sustainable building design experience is a plus.
  • Strong client relationship management skills.
  • Previous experience mentoring engineering staff.
