Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Research Scientist, Autologous Orthobiologics (PhD)

APEXBiologix is an industry leader in the regenerative medicine space, dedicated to the science and research of innovative orthobiologics. We are seeking a PhD-level Research Scientist to help advance our autologous orthobiologics platform for musculoskeletal repair and regeneration. This role sits at the interface of laboratory science, clinical practice, and product development at a fast‑moving biotech company.

In addition to hands‑on research, this position will engage directly with clinical partners to ensure biological insights translate into practical, reproducible, and clinically meaningful workflows.

What You Will Do Scientific & Translational Responsibilities
  • Design and execute in vitro and in vivo studies supporting autologous orthobiologic therapies (Platelet‑Rich Plasma, Bone Marrow Concentrate, Protein Concentrate, Microfragmented Adipose)
  • Characterize patient‑derived cell populations, biologic factors, and functional outcomes relevant to musculoskeletal repair
  • Develop, optimize, and standardize autologous biologic processing and handling workflows
  • Own experiments end‑to‑end, from hypothesis through data analysis, interpretation, and presentation
  • Address biological variability inherent to patient‑derived materials using data‑driven approaches
  • Generate translational datasets to support product development, clinical protocols, and regulatory strategy
  • Collaborate closely with clinical, engineering, and leadership teams in a fast‑paced environment
  • Stay informed on competitive, regulatory, and scientific developments in orthobiologics and regenerative medicine
Clinical Partner Engagement
  • Engage directly with physician investigators, clinical researchers, and site partners to align research outputs with defined clinical needs
  • Work in close scientific collaboration with a PhD expert in regenerative medicine
  • Translate laboratory findings into clear, actionable guidance for clinical workflows and procedural optimization
  • Support development of clinical study protocols, endpoints, and biologic characterization plans
  • Participate in meetings with clinical partners to review data, interpret outcomes, and iterate on protocols
  • Prepare scientific and technical materials for clinician education, advisory boards, and partner discussions
Who You Are
  • PhD in Regenerative Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, Cell Biology, or a related field
  • Comfortable engaging with clinicians and translating complex biology into practical, procedure‑ready insights
  • Highly hands‑on, adaptable, and motivated by real‑world clinical impact
  • Able to operate autonomously while collaborating closely with a small, interdisciplinary team
  • Clear communicator with the ability to tailor scientific messaging to technical and non‑technical audiences
Experience & Skills Required
  • Experience with biologic characterization and advanced bioanalytical techniques, including ELISA, multiplex, and exosome‑based assays
  • Excellent experimental design, data analysis, and documentation skills
Nice to Have
  • Direct experience with autologous orthobiologics (e.g., PRP, BMAC, adipose‑derived products)
  • Familiarity with musculoskeletal biology, orthopaedics, or sports medicine
  • Experience supporting clinical research, investigator‑initiated studies, or translational programs
  • Exposure to regulatory considerations in autologous or minimally manipulated biologics
  • Experience contributing to IP, white papers, or clinician‑facing educational materials
Why Join Us
  • Work at the intersection of science, procedure, and clinical adoption
  • Opportunity to contribute to ongoing scientific characterization of commercialized products, with the potential to refine preparation protocols based on data‑driven insights
  • Partner directly with clinicians to shape next‑generation autologous biologic therapies
  • High‑ownership, high‑impact role with visibility across research, clinical strategy, and leadership
