Seeking Candidates in the Tampa, FL Area

SUMMARY:

This is a Hybrid position. Travel to clinics is required.

The Clinical Oncology Pharmacist will serve as a member of the central services team where our focus is to deliver best‑in‑class pharmaceutical support to all clinical staff throughout the organization. As a member of the Pharmacy Operations team, the incumbent will ensure delivery of therapeutic medication monitoring, protocol management, medication information, education, and performance improvement that ensures safe, effective, and cost‑efficient medication therapy.

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Pharmacy Clinical Services, the Clinical Oncology Pharmacist works collaboratively with Hematology/Oncology physicians and nursing staff to provide quality patient care appropriate for the patient’s oncologic diagnosis, prescribed treatment, age group and other identified needs. The pharmacist coordinates the drug therapy process on Hematology/Oncology patient population which may include any of the following activities but is not limited to drug selection (including the use of genetic/biomarker testing in the drug selection process), drug information, dosing, monitoring, outcomes management, retrospective drug utilization monitoring and compliance.

Provides support for the development of new regimen builds and inquiries.

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: KPA 1 – Clinical Oncology Pharmacy Support
  • Provides timely consultation services to physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff, and other members of the organization.
  • Delivers up to date drug information on new approved therapies in the oncology space as well as other biologic therapies.
  • Applies current pharmacological and biopharmaceutical principles for the selection and use of drug products in a clinical setting to meet the therapeutic needs of a patient.
  • Provides senior clinical support and education to other members of the department in correlation with operational projects and objectives.
KPA 2 – Pharmacoinformatics
  • Reviews drug utilization reports alongside other corresponding data to identify areas of need or improvement as it applies to appropriate usage and best health outcomes.
  • Develops action plans to address issues of under/over utilization according to approved indications, NCCN Guidelines, formulary, etc.
  • Develops metrics related to pharmacy data, clinical data, cost data, and functional data that can be applied to improve clinical outcomes, cost control, and overall system usage.
KPA 3 – Advances the Practice of Oncology Pharmacy
  • Assesses changes or need to make changes to improve care of oncology patients or for a topic for advancing the pharmacy profession or oncology pharmacy.
