We are seeking a charismatic, self‑motivated Buyer II to purchase various commodities to meet daily operational needs.
Position SummaryAs a Buyer II, you will research, evaluate, and buy products needed for our operations, ensuring cost, quality, and delivery requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities- Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select best source consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements
- Purchase raw materials required for production and support all operational activities
- Address over‑shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates, and prices; report changes to interested parties in a timely manner
- Seek new suppliers based on best price, quality, availability, reliability, and customer support
- Maintain accuracy of item master data within SAP, including lead‑time, pricing, supplier information, and thorough purchase order documentation
- Maintain purchase orders to ensure accurate quantity, pricing, and delivery, documenting required changes
- Coordinate and manage Product Change Notifications
- Negotiate and manage long‑term pricing agreements for goods and services
- Create detailed, complex cost analyses across multiple suppliers and units of measure
- Display strong negotiation skills
- Work additional hours as required
- Organize meetings & visits with key suppliers, cross‑functional teams, and trade shows
- Monitor commodity spend and spend by supplier
- Stay abreast of industry trends and market risks
- Track and adhere to project timelines/deadlines
- Negotiate favorable payment terms and credit limits with suppliers
- Support business case development for new product launches
- Develop MSAs and Supplier Agreements
- Develop strong relationships with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders
- Other assignments as required
- BA or BS in Business Administration, Operations Planning, Supply Chain, or related field
- MBA, CPM or APICS Certification desirable
- 5+ years of related procurement experience including purchasing, inventory control, contract negotiation, supply management, supplier relationships
- Minimum age 21 (or 18 in CT, PA, WV)
- Must pass a comprehensive background check
- Patience, tact, enthusiasm, cheerful disposition
- Ability to function independently, be flexible, display personal integrity, and work effectively with all employees and departments
- Knowledge and understanding of purchasing procedures
- Teamwork and independent work capability
- Observant, inquisitive, and attentive
- Effective organization and time management skills
- Solid ERP/MRP experience
- Strong relationships with supply base
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Typing and standard office equipment proficiency
- Proficiency in Excel and Power Point
- Minimal travel within a specific geographic area
