Frontline Communications, a division of Pierce Manufacturing, has been the leading custom communications vehicle manufacturer since 1985, building over 2,500 highly customized vehicles. Metal Finisher I is responsible for preparing various metal truck bodies, doors, and assorted parts for paint.
Essential Functions- Inspect all materials to be painted before and after preparation.
- Smooth surfaces to be painted by sanding parts and grinding welds.
- Prepare surfaces for wet on wet paint process.
- Recognize, repair, and glaze major defects independently.
- Repair and glaze minor dents and gouges.
- Train others in the department as needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 3 or more months of related experience.
- Knowledge of automotive metal finish and paint process.
- Demonstrated experience using hammer/dolly technique.
- Demonstrated experience using polyester primers.
- Demonstrated experience using various small and pneumatic hand tools.
- Ability to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Limb and finger dexterity.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to perform twisting, turning, bending, climbing, pushing, and pulling motions.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs; >35 lbs requires two team members; >59 lbs requires a lift device.
- Ability to wear PPE (steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, vest).
Working conditions will be inside and outside where temperatures will vary from extreme heat to extreme cold for extended periods of time. The position is regularly exposed to vibration and loud noises.
