Skilled Steel Welder - Sign Fabrication & Aluminum

Thomas Sign and Awning, an Award Winning sign company in Clearwater, Florida, is looking for a Steel Welder to join our team. The idea candidate will have experience fabricating and welding steel, as well as aluminum.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Fabricates and assembles all parts to form complete sign cabinets, pylons, pole covers and other custom made sign assemblies. May create units or subassemblies at a bench or other work locations. Performs a variety of assembly operations such as riveting and welding. Performs and demonstrates any of the operations within the group. Utilizes hand tools, power tools and other special equipment to perform assigned job.

Generally works as a member of a team, and helps train less experienced workers. Possesses a good understanding of the entire sign manufacturing process, and interacts with other departments to solve special production problems. Often refers to technical drawings, engineering notes, production schedules or other reference material. Responsible for checking quality of own work. Performs rework if necessary to ensure quality workmanship.

JOB SKILLS

• Use of Acetylene Torch, Plasma Torch

• Use of MIG Welding Equipment in 1G and 2G Positions

• Use of common Power Tools, both electric and air

• Use of Hand Tools

• Use of power operated Sheet Metal Brake and power Shear

• Able to accurately measure and cut metal, plastic, wire, fabric, etc.

• Able to assemble parts to form complete units or subassemblies

• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions in English and read shop drawings

• Basic electrical wiring knowledge and skills

• Able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted

• Must be able to cooperate and work well with others in a team environment

• Able to keep work area organized, neat and clean

• Forklift experience preferred but able to train and certify.
