Salary Range: $22.00 - $25.00

Position Summary

Responsible for learning and performing the set ups and running of Amada Laser.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect dimension and quality of all parts produced.
  • Occasionally generate programs for equipment.
  • Communicate with programmers and supervisor to prioritize daily work.
  • Perform preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain clear records and documentation of parts produced, manage raw stock inventory, and dispose of scrap.
  • Examine specifications of the customer’s order using drawings, work orders, and/or set‑up sheets to determine characteristics of the finished item, materials to be used, and machine set‑up requirements.
  • Fabricate work piece(s) as determined by work order specifications; retrieve correct materials, prepare workbench, and set up appropriate tools to complete the job.
  • Examine work piece visually, by touch, or using tape rule, calipers, or gauges to ensure product meets desired standards.
  • Enter production quantities and labor hours into ERP system.
  • May perform various other fabrication duties including sawing, deburring, hardware installation, etc., as necessary to satisfy customer requirements and meet specifications.
  • Ensure the machine is set up properly, monitor it during the process, and document results.
  • Perform basic math functions such as addition and subtraction.
  • Work under immediate supervision and is not typically required to exercise independent judgment, though at times it will be necessary.
  • Observe safety and security procedures pertaining to plant maintenance/repair and use equipment properly.
  • Keep work area organized to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform all other duties as directed by management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience manufacturing with laser equipment.
  • Experience setting up and operating laser or similar CNC equipment; experience operating Amada equipment a plus.
  • Previous sheet metal handling or exposure preferred.
  • Computer literate with the ability to learn set‑ups and programming.
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to learn and seek out new skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain all types of simple assembly and material prints and BOMs.
  • Knowledge of air tools, power tools, grinders, and hand tools.
  • General knowledge of shop machines and precision measuring tools.
  • Ability to follow instructions and pre‑established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Ability to inspect equipment, structures or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Self‑motivated, able to work independently and within tight deadlines.
  • Extremely organized, acute attention to detail, and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Ability to safely operate (or learn to operate) a forklift, pallet jack and/or overhead crane while moving machinery around the shop.
  • Comfortable working in a non‑temperature controlled environment.
  • Ability to adapt to the work environment, deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events, while promoting a positive outlook.
  • Required to wear PPE equipment at all times while on production floor.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly and remain on feet for long periods of time.
  • Extremely dependable; consistently at work and on time (notifies if late or absent prior to being late or absent), follows instruction, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
