The Cardiology Office Registered Nurse is a key clinical team member responsible for supporting patient care through the review of cardiac test results, management of anticoagulation therapy, and implementation of outpatient cardiac provider orders. This role requires clinical judgment, attention to detail, and effective communication skills to ensure safe and timely care coordination for cardiology patients.
Primary Responsibilities- Review and interpret cardiac diagnostic test results (e.g., echocardiograms, stress tests, Holter monitors, EKGs) and relay findings to the provider as appropriate.
- Monitor and manage outpatient anticoagulation therapy, including adjusting Coumadin dosing per established protocols and provider direction.
- Follow through on cardiology provider orders including arranging labs, imaging, referrals, and patient follow-up.
- Communicate test results and care instructions to patients in a timely and compassionate manner.
- Document all patient interactions, medication adjustments, and care coordination activities accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Collaborate with physicians, APPs, and the care coordination team to ensure continuity of care.
- Triage patient calls related to test results, medication questions, or clinical concerns, escalating to providers as needed.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and maintain awareness of current guidelines related to cardiology care and anticoagulation management.
- Minimum of 2 years of cardiology nursing experience; anticoagulation management experience preferred but not required.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
