Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs advanced inspection activities including first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections using precision measurement tools and equipment.

Interprets engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and customer requirements to verify product conformity.

Supports nonconformance investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.

Assists with internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory compliance activities.

Reviews inspection documentation and ensures accurate quality records.

Provides mentorship and technical guidance to Quality Technician I–III roles.

Identifies process improvement opportunities to reduce defects and improve quality performance.

Supports cross-functional problem-solving initiatives related to manufacturing quality issues.

Maintains adherence to company quality management systems and safety standards.

Qualifications
  • 5 – 6 years of progressively responsible experience in quality inspection, quality assurance, or manufacturing quality environments
  • High school diploma or GED required;
    Associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated experience performing advanced inspection activities in a precision manufacturing environment
  • Advanced ability to read & interpret engineering drawings, specifications, & geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Strong working knowledge of precision measurement tools & inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, comparators, & coordinate measuring machines (CMM), as applicable
  • Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) processes (e.g., AS9102 or similar standards, if applicable)
  • Knowledge of quality systems, standards, & regulatory requirements relevant to the industry (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100, NADCAP, customer-specific requirements)
  • Experience with nonconformance documentation, root cause analysis, & corrective action processes
  • Ability to review inspection reports, quality documentation, & technical data for accuracy & compliance
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail & commitment to product quality
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective communication skills with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, & Quality leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor or provide technical guidance to junior team members
  • Experience supporting internal, customer, or regulatory audits
  • Familiarity with ERP/MES or quality data systems
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
Physical Requirements

Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the manufacturing and inspection areas.

Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, and operate inspection tools, gauges, and measurement equipment.

Frequently required to visually inspect parts and materials, including close visual acuity for precision measurement, defect identification, and reading technical documentation.

Occasionally required to sit for extended periods while reviewing inspection data, documentation, or performing computer-based tasks.

Must be able to communicate effectively, including the ability to hear and speak clearly in a manufacturing environment.

Occasionally required to lift, carry, push, or pull materials or parts weighing up to 25 pounds

Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and other protective equipment as required.
