Job Description
Position Summary
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for generating revenue by identifying, developing, and closing new business while expanding existing accounts. This is a field-based role focused on prospecting, relationship development, and solution-based selling.
The Outside Sales Representative is expected to meet or exceed defined sales goals, independently develop leads, effectively work company-provided leads, and cross-sell SSBRM’s full portfolio of records management solutions. Strong technical aptitude and the ability to sell imaging and digital services are essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Sales & Revenue Generation
- Meet or exceed assigned sales quotas, revenue targets, and performance metrics.
- Manage the full sales cycle, including prospecting, needs analysis, presentations, proposals, negotiation, and closing.
- Drive recurring revenue growth by expanding existing accounts and securing long-term client relationships.
- Prospecting & Lead Development
- Generate new business through cold calling, referrals, networking, territory management, and independent research.
- Effectively work inbound and company-generated leads while maintaining responsibility for building a self-sustained sales pipeline.
- Identify and pursue prospects currently using competitors by uncovering service gaps, pricing concerns, and operational inefficiencies.
- Solution & Cross-Selling
- Sell and cross-sell SSBRM services, including imaging and digitization, microform, physical records storage, secure shredding, and bin rotation programs.
- Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities within each account to increase revenue and client retention.
- Present bundled and customized solutions that align with client operational, compliance, and security needs.
- Technology & Product Expertise
- Demonstrate strong technical aptitude and the ability to confidently sell technology-driven solutions.
- Explain imaging workflows, digital access, data security, and system integrations in clear business terms.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of SSBRM products, services, and competitive differentiators.
- Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain professional relationships with decision-makers and key stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the sales process and initial onboarding.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth implementation, indexing, and integration into the O’Neil system.
- Reporting & Administrative Responsibilities
- Accurately document all sales activity, contacts, opportunities, and forecasting data in the Prophet CRM system.
- Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and updates as required by management.
- Participate in sales meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews.
- Associate degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2–5 years of successful outside B2B sales experience with a documented history of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
- Experience selling records management, imaging, technology solutions, or related B2B services preferred.
- Strong sales acumen with proven prospecting and closing skills.
- Ability to independently generate leads and manage a sales territory.
- High level of comfort selling technology-based and service-based solutions.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Computer Skills - Proficiency with CRM systems and standard business software, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, calendar tools, and internet-based research platforms.
Licenses & RequirementsLicenses & Requirements - Valid driver’s license and personal automobile insurance.
- Ability to meet commercial insurance carrier guidelines.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or reach.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Field-based outside sales position with frequent local travel.
- Moderate noise levels in office and warehouse environments.
