Overview

The Nexus Water Group team has an opportunity for a Lift Station Technician. The role is responsible for maintaining distribution/collection systems with a strong focus on lift stations, identifying equipment problems, and performing maintenance of system facilities. This position will travel between service areas near Clearwater, FL. Requires the ability to respond 24 hours a day to various situations.

What You’ll Do
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Document customer interaction and field activities using company software.
  • Act as liaison between customers and customer service personnel for problem/complaint resolution.
  • Provide on‑site customer communication.
  • Assist with maintaining mechanical, electrical, and piping systems for area lift station facilities, collection and distribution systems.
  • Travel daily between work sites on company time.
  • Work on–call in rotation; respond to emergency situations as required.
  • Assist with repairs of water/wastewater treatment plant equipment, lift stations, and infrastructure.
  • Indicate irregularities on forms for necessary action by department personnel and vendors.
  • Assist with ordering parts and job costing.
  • Prepare operational reports related to collection and distribution systems, and lift stations.
  • Assist in maintaining plant compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring
  • Distribution and/or Collections certification as required by statute or regulation.
  • May be required to obtain first‑level operating license within one year of employment.
  • A minimum of one year previous mechanical or maintenance experience. General knowledge of tools, equipment, and safe work practices is helpful.
Education, Certification, and Licenses
  • HS diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to supervise skilled and unskilled employees effectively, including mentorship, evaluation, and guidance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co‑workers, regulatory agencies, and their personnel.
  • Ability to coach employees objectively through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
  • Ability to implement recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues using judgment consistent with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to maximize use of employees’ skills.
  • Ability to keep accurate records and prepare and submit accurate reports.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to provide safe working conditions for fellow workers.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with other employees and the public.
