Class A-Shift Lead Bus Mechanic

Job Description

Academy Busis is seeking a full‑time Class A Shift Lead Bus Mechanic with supervisory experience for the PM shift at our Clearwater, FL location. A $2,500 sign‑on bonus is available.

Shift: 2nd Shift – 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Pay Range: $28.00–$35.00 per hour, based on experience.

• Repair, troubleshoot, and diagnose modern tour buses.
• Perform reconditioning, preventive and routine maintenance.
• Conduct inspections and road tests.
• Maintain warranty and repair documentation.
• Diagnose, inspect, install, disassemble, and clean components such as brakes, suspension, tires, bearings, seals, radiators, water pumps, coolant hoses, alternators, regulators, steering components, oil/air filters, door assemblies, controls, seats, belts, electric motors, pneumatic valves, cables, and linkages.
• Respond to road calls.
• Perform basic welding and fabrication.
• Train and supervise mechanics and cleaners.

• 7+ years of diesel engine maintenance experience.
• Proficient with diagnostic devices such as DDEC readers, ATEC readers, Smart Tire, schematic interpretation, AIC (Freon) recovery and charging equipment.
• Demonstrated supervisory skills and experience.
• Proven ability to use hand tools, power tools, hydraulic jacks, welding equipment, and testing instruments.
• Must have own tools.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic computer skills.
• CDL license with Passenger and Air‑brake endorsement is a plus but not required; willingness to obtain a CDL is desirable.
