What you will do

The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the site’s business goals and objectives. The Technician will provide support and services for Gulf Coast JFCS site locations in Pinellas and Pasco Counties.

  • Must practice safety precautions and be safety conscious at all times.
  • Performs required planned and corrective (repair) maintenance to building surfaces, fixtures, systems and equipment.
  • Performs equipment preventive maintenance tasks such as checking for proper operation, lubricating bearings, and changing air filters.
  • Performs electrical and plumbing systems preventive maintenance tasks such as inspecting fixtures for leaks, repairing, checking drain lines, testing light switches and outlets, and conducting ground fault tests. Ability to install electrical appliances.
  • Performs carpentry work such as hanging doors, installing windows, hardware repairs, re-glazing windows, installing/repairing cabinets and handrails; repairing roofs, gutters and downspouts; replacing floor tiles and repairing carpet; patching plaster walls and ceilings.
  • Performs masonry work such as repairing cracked concrete, replacing broken masonry brick and tiles, re-grouting and sealing surfaces.
  • Performs plastering and sheetrock repair including mixing plaster, installing wall surfaces, repairing drywall and matching finishes.
  • Performs plumbing tasks such as repairing fixtures, resetting toilets/baths, repairing leaks, and clearing clogged drains.
  • Performs painting tasks including surface preparation, painting, touch-ups and corrosion control preparation.
  • Performs miscellaneous maintenance tasks as directed by the supervisor and supports housing project upkeep to a decent, safe and sanitary condition.
  • Utilizes a wide range of powered and non-powered hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoots maintenance problems using appropriate testing equipment and follows codes for installations and repairs.
  • Participates in off-shift and weekend emergency maintenance coverage as scheduled.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you will need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At minimum three (3) or more years of proven experience comparable to a certified journeyman level craftsman in more than one building trade, or a Vo-Tech graduate with a journeyman rating and certification in one or more trades (Electrical, painting, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, plastering or utility services)
  • Alternatively, an equivalent combination of technical training and experience to meet required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • On-Call availability when needed
  • Support and service to Gulf Coast JFCS Pinellas and Pasco County sites
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance
  • Bondable and insurable by the Authority's fleet carrier
