Job SummaryThe Maintenance Mechanic Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment within the facility. This role ensures the optimal operation of production machinery, building systems, and support equipment by conducting inspections, diagnosing issues, and executing timely repairs. The Maintenance Mechanic Technician collaborates closely with the production, facility, and operations teams to minimize downtime, enhance operational efficiency, and maintain a safe work environment.
Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate maintenance records, adhering to safety protocols, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Dismantle, test, and analyze malfunctioning equipment using hand or power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on industrial machinery, including CNC machines, PLC systems, motors, other equipment, and plant facilities. Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, implementing effective solutions promptly.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and work orders.
Work with team members to support continuous improvement and operational efficiencies..Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and improve machine efficiency. Assist with emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production. Detect faulty operations and/or defective materials and report them to management. May operate manual machine shop equipment and work with close tolerances.
Maintain work area organized and cleaned.
Provide guidance and training to other mechanics.
Maintain a safe work environment by conducting walk-throughs, inspections, documenting, and troubleshooting potential safety issues.
Assist in developing and implementing a budget for the maintenance department.
Perform general maintenance tasks including landscaping, painting, and carpentry.
Maintain inventory for equipment, tools, and shop supplies and place part orders as necessary.
Inspect building, equipment, and systems to identify issues.
Managing heating and plumbing systems to guarantee functionality.
Liaison between management, contractors, and vendors, which includes scheduling shutdowns and inspections.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.
The position requires the employee to talk and hear. Requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing daily. The employee must lift and/or move items weighing up to 50lbs.
Work environmentThe role operates primarily in environments that include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
