Primary

Purpose:

Enables students to continue their education with minimal interruption in the absence of the regular classroom teacher

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

Completion of the Cleburne ISD Substitute Orientation Process

Interpersonal skills to work well

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

Ability to work well with children

Ability to communicate effectively

Experience:

Some experience working with children

Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Support

* Reports to the building principal [school secretary] upon arrival at the school building.

* Reviews with the principal, department head, or team leader all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.

* Teaches the lesson outlined and described in the lesson plans as prepared by the absent teacher.

* Provides a written summary of work completed at the end of each teaching day and leaves it for the regular classroom teacher.

* Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.

* Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.

Student Management

* Maintains effective classroom management and supports the building-wide standards and policies for safety.

* Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.

* Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during teacher assigned locations and times.
