Job Title: EB Parent & Family Engagement Liaison.
Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt.
Reports to: Director of World Languages.
Pay grade: Para 1.
Days: 197 days.

The primary purpose of the EB Parent and Family Engagement Liaison is to collaborate with families, community members, and schools in order to build relationships to support EB student learning and achievement and to support family well-being and the continuous learning and development of children, families, and educators. The liaison will maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Qualifications/MinimumEducation/Certification
- Bilingual - Spanish preferred
- ESL/Bilingual Instructional experience preferred
- Current knowledge and application of educational research on best practices
- Experience with facilitating learning opportunities for adults
- Ability to speak and write effectively, and establish and maintain effective relationships with administrators, teachers, staff, students, and parents
- Dedicated to the values of the school district and the overall success of children and their families
- Dedicated to developing strategic partnerships and building relationships with constituents within the community
- Assists the Director of World Languages in the development of dual language and ESL programming, including the appropriate placement of newly identified students, appropriate resources, and coding of EB students.
- Assist campuses with the district newcomer programming.
- Collaborating with families so that they are well-equipped with best practices and information related to the educational process to encourage positive family attitudes toward education
- Engage and empower families and communities to advocate for Emerging Bilingual students and to develop strategies to solve problems.
- Serve as a translator and interpreter in written and verbal forms of World Languages Department communication.
- Actively recruit and engage parents and other family members to become involved in the school and to share their education and career experiences with other families. Support campus EB leads in planning parent events.
- Establish and maintain mutual partnerships with businesses, faith-based organizations, and community agencies. Assist in the development and organization of district-level parent-community events such as the CISD Multicultural Fair.
- Attend professional development as required.
- Establish an open, cooperative environment to ensure culturally diverse, relevant, and responsive communication between all parties.
- Refer parents to appropriate adult education programs (GED, ESL, etc.) and other community resources.
- Develop a network of support consisting of campus parent liaisons and other district staff members to ensure that all campuses have access to parent programming.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor that are consistent with the position's general requirements and qualifications.
Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district-wide travel; frequent, prolonged, and irregular hours.
