Job title: Physical Education Aide Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt

Primary PurposeTo assist the physical education teacher(s) as assigned and to assist teachers and students as requested.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Paraprofessional Certification Preferred
- Current CPR/First Aid Preferred
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and maintain a positive attitude in the work environment
- Ability to use good judgment in problem-solving and decision‑making
- Use time productively; consistently arrive on time
- Ability to follow district policies and procedures
- Ability to accept supervisory direction and desire to improve job skills
- Ability to demonstrate tact, courtesy and helpfulness in dealing with staff, students, parents, and visitors
- Prior experience working with children, preferably in an instructional setting or gym
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of skills
- Assist physical education teacher with putting out and picking up equipment for each class
- Assist with inventory, care, storage and maintenance of equipment
- Remind physical education students of gym rules and enforce consequences for inappropriate behavior
- Be visible and walk around the gym monitoring student behavior and safety
- Supervise and assist with supervision during class and between classes in the gym, outside, or other areas where physical education class may be assigned
- Maintain classroom procedures of the Physical Education Teacher in the event of the teacher's absence (with the assistance of a substitute teacher)
- Maintain confidentiality
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of rules, regulations, and practices
- Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor and/or Superintendent
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
- Must be present regularly in person
Supervisory duties as assigned by the principal and/or physical education teacher.
Equipment UsedCopier, personal computer, audio visual equipment, smart board, physical education equipment
Working Conditions- Maintain emotional control under stress; must be able to control students
- Standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting during the majority of the day
- Classes will be outside during times of heat and cold
