Physical Education Aide

To assist the physical education teacher(s) as assigned. To assist the teachers and students as requested.

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or Equivalent Paraprofessional Certification Preferred Current CPR/First Aid Preferred

Experience:

Prior experience working with children, preferably in an instructional setting or gym setting

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of skills
• Assists physical education teacher with putting out and picking up equipment for each class. Assist with inventory, care, storage and maintenance of equipment.
• Remind physical education students of the gym rules and enforce consequences for inappropriate behavior.
• Be visible and walking around the gym monitoring student behavior and safety.
• Supervise and assist with supervision during class and between classes in the gym, outside or other areas where physical education class may be assigned.
• Maintain the classroom procedures of the Physical Education Teacher in the event of the teacher's absence (with the assistance of a substitute teacher).
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of rules, regulations, and practices.
• Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor and/or Superintendent.
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
• Must be present regularly in person.

Supervisory duties as assigned by the principal and/or physical education teacher.

Copier, personal computer, audio visual equipment, smart board, physical education equipment

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Must be able to control students. Standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting during the majority of the day. Classes will be outside during times of heat and cold.
