Primary PurposeThe EB Instructional Specialist will assist Dual Language & L.O.T.E. teachers with differentiation of instruction to close achievement gaps for all students while working collaboratively with the instructional coordinators within curriculum and instruction. Responsibilities include providing professional development for initiatives, programs, and activities related to the curriculum content.
QualificationsEducation/Certification:
Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsement in Bilingual Education/LOTE (Spanish)
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of effective professional development including coaching and mentoring
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Extensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Extensive knowledge of Texas Curriculum (TEKS) and state assessments
- Knowledge of strategies and materials for the education of dual language students
Experience:
Three years or more of successful teaching experience required
Major Responsibilities and DutiesTo facilitate/coach teachers' professional growth through:
- Focused classroom visits, conferencing with teachers, and lesson demonstration.
- Modeling effective EL instructional strategies and best practices for improving student performance.
- Assisting in the analysis of data to determine instructional needs.
- Assisting teachers in designing engaging lessons and units of study that integrate EL strategies.
- Provide professional development as needed.
- Management and evaluation of teacher resources.
- Assist in identifying and developing appropriate accommodations for EL students.
- Assist with Spanish Language Arts & L.O.T.E. curriculum writing.
- Attendance at EL/dual language meetings and/or curriculum meetings.
- Keep abreast of current research and practices.
Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for teachers.
Communication- Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be present regularly in person.

Working Conditions Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsMaintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
