Job Summary
SOLV Energy, a leader in utilities infrastructure, seeks a full‑time field and office role overseeing stormwater controls on solar sites. The position involves 60–70% on‑site inspections and guidance for civil subcontractors, with 30–40% spent preparing inspections, meetings, and documentation to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
Responsibilities- Perform Stormwater Pollution Prevention (SWPP) inspections and daily site observations as required by the state‑specific stormwater permit.
- Ensure corrective actions are completed within the time frames stipulated by the state stormwater permit.
- Verify that Best Management Practices (BMPs) are installed correctly per the SWPPP and erosion & sediment control plan specification sheets.
- Provide proactive corrective action recommendations for erosion and sediment control concerns.
- Maintain compliance with additional environmental regulations—including air quality/dust control, endangered species and habitat protection, and wetland protection.
- Communicate field findings to the site superintendent, SOLV Energy representatives, and the Environmental Compliance Manager.
- Research and answer SWPPP and environmental compliance questions for project managers and engineers.
- Keep the SWPPP binder up to date by updating erosion & sediment control plan redlines, BMP amendment logs, and ensuring all required documents are present.
- Add supplemental SWPPP documents to the binder as needed.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors responsible for seeding and BMP implementation, ensuring environmentally sensitive areas are designated and blocked off.
- Perform monthly SPCC inspections and audits, coordinate spill clean‑up with onsite or third‑party companies, and provide oversight.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
- Effective communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to direct and manage crews responsible for BMP installation and maintenance.
- Ability to attend remote meetings as necessary.
- Ability to remain on site daily until the project’s Notice of Termination (NOT) is approved or otherwise instructed.
- Civil, environmental, or construction management education or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with all levels of field staff.
- Ability to read and understand civil plans and specifications.
- Problem‑solving skills with multiple solution options.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, and willingness to learn Workday and other proprietary software.
- Willingness to obtain the following certifications: 8‑hour Stormwater Pollution Prevention certification, CPESC, CESSWI, CISEC, QCIS, EPA Construction General Permit Inspector training, and other required state‑specific stormwater training courses.
Must tolerate occasional exposure to dust, dirt, pollen, heavy equipment exhaust, and airborne particulates; inclement weather; medium to high noise. Requires visual and auditory acuity; ability to inspect at close range and distance; ability to descend and ascend site features. Relocation and travel may be required.
Compensation and Benefits- Hourly rate: $26.44 – $33.05 per hour.
