Position: FT - Drainage Crew leader

Compensation: $19.72 – $22.86

Position open until filled.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

This is a mid-level supervisory position and duties include leading assigned street and drainage personnel, working with the Street and Drainage Foreman to determine work schedules, keeping records and reporting monthly of department activities, and operating machinery in maintenance tasks. Subject to after hour call outs for emergency situations.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge in maintenance of streets, alleys, and drainage systems (creek, storm sewers and culverts) pavement maintenance, and construction repair
  • Knowledge of the safe operation of equipment used and or the provisions of the Texas Motor Vehicle code pertaining to the operation of vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to supervise others through effective working relationships
  • Sufficient skills to operate and train others to operate equipment effectively and safely
  • Ability to work under adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to lead a group of employees in the execution of the assigned tasks
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school graduate or equivalent and at least three (3) years in street and drainage and at least one (1) year in a supervisory position is desirable;

Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED

A Valid Class A CDL Texas driver license with a Tank Endorsement, and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDS

Primarily in an outdoor environment with the ability to operate indoors when needed. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during summer and winter months. Some exposure to dust, fumes, and loud noises that are routinely encountered in street, alley, and drainage maintenance operations.
