Located in our Clemmons, NC facility and reporting to the R&D Lab Leadership, the Test Lab Engineer works globally and cross‑functionally to design, develop and test new products, improve existing products and evaluate competitor products. The Test Lab Engineer carries out test plans on swimming–pool related equipment for conformity with both internal and industry standards, and applies engineering principles and technical skills to design, build, install and implement systems to support testing needs.

Work involves direct collaboration with engineering and technical staff, modification and assembly of products, and setup and conduct of tests with analysis and documentation of results.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering and technology to efficiently and accurately execute product testing plans and interpret product standards, test procedures and results.
  • Read, comprehend and follow written instructions, industry standards, test procedures, process diagrams and schematics.
  • Design test setups and execute tests incorporating equipment such as flow meters, pressure transducers, vacuum transducers, voltmeters and computerized test equipment where applicable.
  • Upload and configure hardware, firmware and software for products under test.
  • Collaborate with various engineering departments in meeting environments.
  • Communicate observations and present test methodology and results to team members and senior staff.
  • Translate industry standards and engineering work requests into working test setups using intermediate mechanical, plumbing and electrical skills.
  • Monitor, analyze and report on products under evaluation to ensure that tests continue to function as intended and are producing statistically valid results.
  • Select, configure, program and integrate PLCs and data acquisition system hardware and software.
  • Provide data analysis using computer software.
  • Mentorship of lab staff while leading by example.
  • Identify and coordinate continuous improvement opportunities to improve operational efficiencies in the lab.
  • Setup and test IoT products and systems; familiar with communication protocols such as Bluetooth, WiFi and cloud‑based systems.
Requirements
  • Self‑motivated, with a strong aptitude and desire to learn, attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Strong aptitude and experience with testing and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and logical reasoning skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.); familiarity with SharePoint, Power BI and Power Automate is a plus.
  • Unquestionable ethics; maintain company‑sensitive information in confidence.
  • Clear speaking, reading and writing skills in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, product specifications and government/industry standards and specifications.
  • Maintain excellence and accuracy in a dynamic, fast‑paced, multi‑disciplinary environment.
  • Ability to swim; required for job duties involving pool equipment.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Sciences or Technology, or military experience with 1 to 2 years of on‑the‑job training.
  • Commensurate skills and experiences may be considered.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting some products under test up to 50 lbs.
  • Sitting, standing and frequent walking within and between departments.
