Join a Leading Manufacturing and Distribution Team Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Freight Coordinator to support shipping, transportation, and export operations at their Winston-Salem manufacturing facility. This position plays a critical role in coordinating outbound shipments, arranging freight pickups, processing export documentation, and ensuring products move efficiently through the supply chain. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in logistics, transportation coordination, shipping administration, freight billing, AS400 systems, and Microsoft Excel who enjoy working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Position OverviewThe Freight Coordinator is responsible for coordinating outbound shipments, preparing bills of lading, processing invoices, scheduling freight carriers, handling export documentation, and maintaining accurate shipping records. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to multitask while supporting daily shipping operations.
Key Responsibilities- Shipping & Transportation Coordination
- Create, process, and maintain bills of lading for outbound shipments
- Schedule freight pickups with carriers via phone, email, and other communication channels
- Verify shipment documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Coordinate shipment priorities to meet customer and production demands
- Dispatch switcher drivers for trailer movements within the facility
- Schedule and coordinate outbound freight shipments
- Documentation & Administration
- Generate bills of lading, invoices, and shipping documentation using AS400 and PC-based systems
- Validate completed shipping paperwork and obtain required signatures
- Process transportation billing and freight invoicing
- Maintain organized shipping records and documentation files
- Create and distribute daily shipping and logistics reports
- Export & International Shipping
- Process export documentation and customs paperwork
- Create commercial invoices for international shipments
- Ensure export documents are distributed to appropriate parties
- Maintain export compliance records and documentation files
- Reporting & Systems Management
- Utilize Microsoft Excel extensively for reporting, tracking, and logistics data management
- Generate departmental reports using AS400 and Excel
- Review receiving and shipping data for accuracy
- Monitor shipment statuses and provide updates as needed
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 6 months of relevant office, logistics, shipping, or transportation experience
- Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and reporting tools
- Preferred 1–3 years of experience in:
Freight Coordination Logistics Administration Transportation Billing Shipping & Receiving Operations Export Documentation Order Processing or Order Coordination - College degree preferred
