- Perform Assembly Lead‑Person duties and responsibilities for multiple production lines, having a thorough and in‑depth working knowledge of the same.
- Identify aptitude and skills strengths of individual employees and position employees on jobs to achieve or exceed established production standards.
- Apply good cell balance aptitude and run production following the “standard work” and BOM in a “one piece flow” format.
- Audit parts (BOM) and process inputs to ensure quality and integrity of the product.
- Use strong problem‑solving skills to find solutions to quality, scrap, material handling and productivity issues.
- Schedule and direct an entire supervisory‑assigned area in the Supervisor’s absence.
- Make good judgment and decision‑making on the line.
- Develop and implement production methods and cost‑reduction improvements.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers.
- Maintain respectful leadership and motivate employees to perform at a high level.
- Ensure exceptionally high quality standards are met.
- Demonstrate mechanical ability and repair minor machine problems to minimize downtime.
- Instruct and train lead persons and material handlers in proper methods and procedures.
- Use the AS400 for BOM, “standard work”, Inventory Control functions and all departmental documentation and operating procedures, including printing labels, BOM, and making transactions to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Maintain an exceptionally clean and safe workplace and report all safety hazards.
- Apply the SQDC board to manage the cell, measure and keep records, conduct quality audits (ratio checks, tester checks, etc.), and sustain lean practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Desire to coach and train within a team environment.
- Effective communication to operators and supervision.
- Strong product knowledge.
- Ability to use department hand tools and machinery safely.
- Ability to read and use measurement tools.
- Basic PC skills: use Word, Excel.
- Strong knowledge of the AS400.
- Excellent attendance.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Math skills and ability to understand percentages.
- Ability to visualize, articulate, solve problems, and make sensible decisions.
- Anticipate, accept, and embrace change in the assembly department.
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Spanish language ability is a plus.
Must be able to perform all jobs on the production line and use walkie stackers.
Work EnvironmentEmployees are occasionally exposed to fumes, dust, and airborne particles. Noise level is moderate to noisy. Safety glasses and safety shoes are required while on the plant floor.
