Job Overview
Forsyth County's Park and Recreation has a great opportunity to work outdoors with the Tanglewood golf maintenance staff. We have an opening for a Golf Technician III which plays a leadership role in performing maintenance tasks and projects on the Tanglewood golf courses. This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the pump station and irrigation system for the golf courses.
Other tasks include performing tree removal, operating equipment such as a backhoe, skid steer, loader and other heavy equipment, along with performing general maintenance tasks on the golf courses.
Monday through Friday and every other weekend.
May - September: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
October - April: 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
Qualifications- Considerable knowledge of the maintenance, operation and repair of golf course irrigation systems.
- Working knowledge of plumbing and electrical concepts related to irrigation systems.
- Considerable knowledge of standard golf course maintenance practices.
- Ability to operate and maintain a variety of reel-type mowers and other golf grounds maintenance equipment.
- Ability to operate tractors, loaders, backhoes and other large equipment.
- Ability to perform a variety of skilled golf course maintenance duties.
- Knowledge of safe and efficient use of all types of golf course equipment.
- Graduation from high school or GED plus three years of experience in golf course maintenance; or
- Associate degree in turf management or related field and one year of relevant experience.
- Must have demonstrated experience repairing and maintaining irrigation systems.
- Pesticide license must be obtained within one year of employment.
- A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.
- Driver's License is required.
- Maintains and repairs water pumps for all golf courses in the park.
- Changes cups on a golf course daily.
- Operates backhoe, bobcat and forklift to dig out leaks, remove debris or move supplies.
- Removes large trees on the golf course.
- Identifies and repairs problems with the electrical wiring of the irrigation systems.
- Performs general golf maintenance tasks as needed.
