The main responsibility of this position is to assist in research projects for AI-enabled building evacuation system development and AI-enabled construction safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities- 50% - Essential - AI Applications Investigation and Analysis:
Conduct literature reviews and technical assessments on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the following domains: building evacuation and emergency response systems; construction site safety and hazard prevention; and building energy modeling and performance analysis. Identify relevant AI methods (e.g., machine learning, deep learning, large language models) and evaluate their feasibility, limitations, and implementation potential for construction and building systems. - 40% - Essential - Research Development and Data Analysis Support:
Support the development of AI-enabled research frameworks, workflows, and proof-of-concept models aligned with a faculty's research projects. Assist in data collection, preprocessing, and analysis using simulation outputs, BIM-based data, or experimental results, as required by each research topic. - 10% - Essential - Manuscript and Technical Report Preparation:
Assist in drafting, revising, and polishing academic manuscripts for journal and conference submissions related to AI applications in construction, safety, evacuation systems, and building energy modeling. Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, figures, tables, and supporting documentation summarizing research findings.
Education:
High school diploma and clerical or paraprofessional experience involving the compilation of data and statistics.
Education:
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Construction.
Experience:
Developing a practical system using AI.

Expected Hourly Rate: $18.75. Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
Essential Personnel LevelNormal Operations. Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
