The Fire Safety Officer II Paramedic (Quick Response Vehicle Medic) protects life and property by providing Fire & Emergency Medical Services response including emergency medical care, fire suppression, hazardous materials, technical rescue, fire and injury prevention, and educational programs. Performs other duties as assigned. May supervise the activities of personnel performing fire‑fighting and rescue duties and contribute to reducing fire hazards while maintaining and operating fire equipment.
Job Duties- Supervisory:
Work is performed under the direction of a commanding officer but the individual must take initiative and exercise independent judgment in emergency situations. This position has no supervisory responsibilities, however may give assignments and/or directions to co‑workers or members of the public during emergency operations as a resource leader or team member; may serve as Initial Incident Commander until relieved as required. - Responsible:
Respond to scenes of fires, disasters or other emergency incidents; provide emergency medical services; respond to manmade and natural disasters; protect life and property through controlling, extinguishing and preventing fires. Deliver safe medical care and treatment based on individual patient needs in accordance with medical protocols and department policies and procedures. Perform hazardous tasks requiring strenuous physical exertion for extended periods of time. - Administrative:
Actively conduct occupancy pre‑incident plans, perform fire prevention, public education, and public relations activities while projecting a professional public image. Accurately complete electronic forms, incident reports, and other documentation as required. Maintain compliance with required OSHA Programs to include Fire Brigade Clearance, Respiratory Protection, Exposure Control Program. Maintain EMS certification and maintain medical control sponsorship/authorization.

Minimum RequirementsA high school diploma or GED and experience in fire‑fighting equipment maintenance, fire prevention or fire fighting.

Expected Salary Range: $45,300.00 - $61,100.00
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
Essential Personnel LevelEmergency Response – In the event of an emergency closure or modified operations, this position is required to respond in order to provide the University's initial response to the emergency situation, including the execution of mission essential functions. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on call.
