JOB SUMMARYSpecial Education Assistant will help implement special education or related services for a class and/or provide direct assistance to specific students. Other duties as assigned by school principal.
JOB DUTIES- 40% - Essential - Teaching and Learning:
Under the direction/guidance of lead teacher, will assist in the educational and social development of students, adapt classroom activities/assignments/materials, and assist in the implementation of students Individual Education Plans and monitor their progress. Implements instructional programs and lesson plans to present and/or reinforcing learning concepts under teacher direction/guidance. - 30% - Essential - Support:
Provide support for individual students, enabling them to fully participate in activities. Promote good study habits and student independence to improve student outcomes. Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns, assist them in developing appropriate social skills. Demonstrate appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner by modeling conversation, manners, clean up, listening and everyday interactions. - 15% - Essential - Administrative Duties:
Assists in the preparation of student work. Assists teachers with preparing items to support teaching. Documents student's daily activities (e.g. behavior, completed assignments, on/off tasks times, etc.) for the purpose of completing daily logs and student's hourly activities. Documents students' daily activities. - 15% - Essential
- Collaboration:
Works with other professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists and physical therapists. Administers tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom.
Education - High School or Equivalent
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTSEducation - Bachelor's degree

COMPENSATION INFORMATIONExpected Salary ($ 33,800.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVELNormal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
