The Animal and Veterinary Sciences Department at Clemson University invites a full‑time, 12‑month tenure‑track Assistant Professor (Beef Specialist) focusing on beef production. The successful candidate will conduct research and extension in the areas of forage utilization, ruminant nutrition, animal behavior, immunology, reproductive physiology, genetics, precision agriculture, and AI applications to beef farming. The position includes a public‑facing Beef Specialist role, collaborating with state producers and the Forage Specialist at the Edisto Research and Education Center, and recruiting and training graduate students in the AVS M.S. and Ph.D. programs.
Qualifications- Ph.D. in Animal Sciences or a closely related field
- Extensive knowledge of the beef cattle industry in the southeastern United States
- Proven research record with practical applications for producers
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Experience in extension programming or training techniques for producers
- Preferred: expertise in ruminant nutrition, growth and development, precision agriculture, or AI applied to beef production
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, stakeholders, and the academic community in a collegial environment
