Assistant Director of Scholarship Programs and Major Fellowships

JOB SUMMARY

Provides specialized advising, program coordination, and operational support for Honors Scholarship Programs and the Office of Major Fellowships. Advises students, coordinates scholarship programming and recruitment, develops student engagement initiatives, and supports communications, assessment, and signature events to enhance the scholar experience for the National Scholars Program and Breakthrough Scholars Program. Manages select nationally competitive fellowship programs, advises students throughout the application process, develops recruitment and preparation strategies, and builds campus partnerships to expand student participation and success for the Office of Majors Fellowships.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ADVISING 25%

Assists with Scholarship Programs advising program, meeting regularly with students to provide comprehensive and in-depth personal, academic, and professional advising. Contributes to existing activities and development of new advising initiatives. Assists students in identifying professional and academic development opportunities, including research, fellowships, scholarships, and internships. Monitors student well-being and provides guidance on appropriate on- and off-campus resources.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS COORDINATION 25%

Assists with day-to-day operations of the Scholarship Programs unit. Develops, administers, evaluates, and innovates engagement and student development programs. Contributes to recruitment and selection for the Honors College and Scholarship Programs, evaluating applications, participating in selection committee activities, communicating with prospective scholars, serving as liaison for campus partners, and assisting with pre- and post-selection recruiting activities. Serves as primary event planner for Scholarship Recruitment Weekend.

Contributes to marketing and communication and alumni and parent programs for Scholarship Programs. Contributes to curriculum and experiential learning as appropriate. Assists with assessment for Scholarship Programs unit.

FELLOWSHIPS PROGRAM MANAGEMENT 25%

Manages application processes for select awards, identifying opportunities, developing and executing recruiting plans, designing and executing workshops/courses and other preparation materials, developing and implementing retention and persistence strategies, and conducting assessment activities. Contributes to promotion of the work of the Office of Major fellowships, including liaising across the university to identify partnerships for student recruitment, development, and success. Develops, implements, and innovates strategies for pipeline development and supports management of fellowships and awards beyond assigned portfolio as needed.

Stays up to date on best practices in fellowships administration and advising, collaborates with colleagues at other institutions, and seeks opportunities for service in the broader fellowships community as appropriate.

FELLOWSHIPS ADVISING 25%

Directs the OMF's 1st and 2nd year student advising programming, developing advising policies and procedures and meeting regularly with potential fellowship candidates. Tracks submissions at each stage, reviews candidate materials, and provides feedback for assigned awards as well as for high-volume programs as needed. Meets one-on-one and in groups with students and takes all general fellowship interest appointments. Provides supplemental advising to students on a wide range of topics including nationally competitive programs, campus resources, and opportunities for personal growth and development.

Minimum Requirements

A bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.

Preferred Requirements

A master's degree and experience in student services programs or related field.
