JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for on-campus and off-campus student recruiting events for the College of Science, assists in the leadership of the College of Science's premier peer mentoring program (COSMIC), holistic advising, which includes general advising for mentors, mentees, and non-COSMIC undergraduate students, and other duties as assigned. The Assistant Director of Recruitment and Retention will serve under the direction of the Director of Recruitment and Retention.
JOB DUTIES:
- 5% - Program Liaison for faculty/staff/students:
Maintain active relationships with student services personnel, SCIENCE departments, and University personnel, including professionals in scholarships, financial aid, UPIC, Career Center, University-level mentoring programs, and admissions. Work with the College of Science Director of Alumni Relations to garner COSMIC alumni support and engagement. - 5% - Assessment:
Assess individual ambassador and mentor performance. Assist with COSMIC program assessments. Lead undergraduate recruiting assessments. Seek funding opportunities to support COSMIC. Attend continuing education and staff development opportunities. Maintain compliance University policies. - 5% - Electronic Media:
Manage Recruitment & Retention presence on electronic media, including University web pages, social media outlets, and university list-serves. Maintain email accounts, list-serves, and Canvas accounts. Advertise scholarships, research opportunities, co-ops, and internships as needed. - 40% - Student Services/Advising:
Assist with the leadership of the COSMIC program and serve as a resource for COSMIC students. Provide individual and/or group advising. Instructor of Record for COSMIC mentor class. Train and advise in mentee class. Write recommendation letters. Review first-year and transfer students' midterm grades and offer advice to those in need of academic assistance. Encourage and advise high-achieving students to apply to the Honors College, scholarships, research opportunities, and internships.
Serve as the program leader for Health Professions Advising Global Engagement program. Point of contact for BRIDGE to Clemson program and lead SCIENCE advisor for BRIDGE students interested in SCIENCE. Staff advisor to student organization DREAM Now. - 45% - Program Assistance/Recruiting:
Assist with planning and programming for recruitment and retention of undergraduate and graduate students. Assist with recruitment initiatives for the Health Professions Advising team. Invite faculty, staff, and students to recruiting and COSMIC events. Recruit, on-board, train, and supervise the College of Science Student Ambassadors and COSMIC Mentors. Recruit and select COSMIC mentees. Work collaboratively with marketing and communications to maintain recruitment presentations and videos.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure the proper program management. Promote professional, social, and community activities within COSMIC community groups. Assist with management of undergraduate and graduate student employees and be supervisor of practice for one graduate assistant.

Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.

50000 - 56100
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL: Normal Operations
- Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
