Serves as the Assistant Business Officer in the College of Behavioral, Social and Health Sciences Business Office. Under the direction of the Business Officer, performs complex college-level accounting duties, support college financial staff and serves as the backup to the Business Officer. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES20% - Leadership & Training:
Provides day-to-day leadership and guidance to the financial team to ensure efficient operations and achievement of college goals. Serves as a resource for questions, problems, and concerns. Coordinates and takes an active role in on-boarding and training for new financial staff. Serves as the backup to the Business Officer. Responsible for continuous improvement and training for current financial staff . Advises on policy updates and implementation including creating and/or updating procedures.
20% - Fiscal Analysis & Forecasting:
Assists the Business Officer in monthly forecasting for the college. Prepares complex financial reports to assist in the forecasting process. Resolves budget issues, including reviewing, researching and recommending alternative strategies. Assists the Business Officer in analyzing past, present and future trends to predict future financial performance.
30% - Financial Management:
Manages all accounting functions for the Dean's office and support areas. Serves as backup to departments during Business Center Manager position vacancies. Analyzes all CBSHS revenue reports and distributes revenues across departments. Assists in data collection and review of University mandated reviews i.e. lab fees and billing rates. Alongside the Business Officer, conducts year end budget meetings with each CBSHS department.
30% - Budget Planning & Management:
Assists the Business Officer in the preparation and implementation of the annual budget and completes budget management tasks as assigned by the Business Officer. Prepares and manages annual departmental budget for assigned units. Serves as the point of contact for preliminary and final budget meetings for Study Abroad programs in CBSHS. Assists in preparing Study Abroad program budgets with the faculty member leading the program.

Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree with accounting courses and professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, banking or finance. Experience required: 3+ years
JOB KNOWLEDGE Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Acts a Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for developing one or more departmental budget(s).

Expected Salary Range $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 dependent upon experience Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVELNormal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
