DescriptionThe Department of Physics and Astronomy at Clemson University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in Biophysics under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Dr. Sheng Liu. This position focuses on the development of a high-resolution single-particle tracking system based on MINFLUX microscopy to study protein dynamics and interactions in live cells. The successful candidate will play a central role in advanced instrumentation development and interdisciplinary biophysics research.
PrimaryResearch Responsibilities
- Design, construction, and optimization of a MINFLUX microscope.
- Development of instrument control software.
- Data acquisition, processing, and quantitative analysis.
- Preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals.
- Cell line generation and biological sample preparation.
- Development of data analysis algorithms for single-molecule and super-resolution data.
- Anticipated start date:

One year - Renewal:
Potential renewal based on performance and availability of funding.
- Required: PhD in Optics, Physics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field, awarded or expected by 2026.
- Optical system design and alignment.
- Instrument control software development.
- Electronic circuit design and FPGA programming.
- Cell culture and biological sample preparation.
- Julia, Python, MATLAB, CUDA, LabVIEW.
- Zemax, Inventor, Solid Works.
- KiCad, Vivado, or related tools.
