Anesthesia Technician
The Anesthesia Technician demonstrates through clinical practice a clear understanding of aseptic techniques and has a working knowledge of the specialized equipment and supplies utilized by the Anesthesiologist/Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist (CRNA). Responsibilities Essential Functions
- Restocks the anesthesia supplies, equipment and drugs in the operating room after each case.
- Maintains and assures adequate inventory levels of anesthesia supplies in departmental service areas and is responsible for ordering these supplies.
- Cleans and maintains the equipment utilized in the delivery of anesthetic service.
- Sets up all invasive monitoring lines as requested by anesthesia.
- Responds and assists Anesthesiologist/CRNA with all perioperative anesthesia emergencies.
- Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills defined by the Surgical Services specific competency list.
- Communicates appropriate information to the Anesthesiologist/CRNA and perioperative nursing staff.
- Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
- May have limited access to areas storing medications.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
- Participates in nursing process improvement activities as assigned.
- Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Practices efficient use of supplies.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized unit.
- Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Qualifications
- Education/Training:
High School graduate or equivalent. - Licensure/Certification:
Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. - Experience:
1-2 years of experience as a Anesthesia Tech is required for this role.
