The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), sales tax compliance, and general ledger activities. This role requires strong attention to detail, solid Excel skills, and the ability to perform account reconciliations and post journal entries accurately.
Key Responsibilities- Process and maintain accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions
- Prepare, file, and ensure compliance with sales tax reporting requirements
- Post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes
- Maintain accurate financial documentation and records
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and schedules
- Analyze financial data and assist in identifying variances or issues
- Utilize Excel for data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation tasks
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, but not required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in AP and AR
- Experience with ERP systems, Net Suite a plus
- Experience handling sales tax filings and compliance
- Proficiency in posting journal entries and account reconciliation
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
- Experience with accounting software/ERP systems
- Understanding of GAAP principles
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times due to running of machines. Employee is required to wear proper PPE equipment (safety glasses, mask, proper fitting respirator).
