The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading the company’s day-to-day accounting operations, with a primary focus on accounts receivable, collections, cash flow, and financial reporting. This role is a hands‑on position in a mid‑sized, privately owned manufacturing environment. It will support leadership with timely financial information (in accordance with US GAAP), customer billing, collections, and month‑end & year‑end close activities.

Additionally, this role will coordinate audit requests and serve as a primary liaison with external auditors, assist in the implementation and monitoring of internal controls, and serve as a key accounting representative in ERP implementations, optimization, and testing activities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee general accounting functions as needed, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month‑end close.
  • Lead monthly and year‑end financial reporting, AR aging analysis, and cash flow reporting for management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within accounting, AR, cash applications, and financial reporting processes.
  • Support inventory, cost, and manufacturing‑related accounting processes, as needed.
  • Establish and maintain accounting controls and procedures to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable functions, including invoicing, cash application, collections, customer account reconciliation, and aging review.
  • Monitor customer credit terms and payment behavior to reduce delinquent balances and minimize bad debt.
  • Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations to resolve billing discrepancies, pricing issues, shipping questions, and deduction disputes.
  • Ensure customer invoices are accurate and on time and aligned with orders, shipments, and contract terms.
  • Implement a process to ensure follow‑up on past‑due accounts using professional and consistent collection efforts.
  • Maintain accurate AR records, customer files, and documentation for billing support, payment history, and dispute resolution.
  • Develop and document accounting policies, workflows, and standard operating procedures. Identify opportunities to automate manual accounting and reporting processes.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for ERP, banking, external accountants, and internal leadership on accounting matters.

Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong accounts receivable and collections experience.
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong client onboarding and collection experience
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software;
    Epicor preferred and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and follow‑up skills.
  • Comfort working directly with customers to resolve payment and invoice issues.
  • Ability to work independently in a small‑company environment and manage multiple priorities.
Physical Requirements
  • On‑site role in a manufacturing environment (mix of office and production floor).
  • Frequent interaction with operations, shipping, sales, and leadership teams.
  • May require occasional visits to the production floor and may occasionally lift or move boxes of materials up to 25–30 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
