As a nationally recognized leader, Kinnect offers training, consulting, and replication through KinnectU, and runs programs such as the Ohio Kinship and Adoption Navigator (OhioKAN), Kinnect to Family (KTF), and Youth Centered Permanency Round tables (YCPRT).

Position Summary

The internal accounting position will be responsible for daily accounting and reporting activities. The accountant will manage bookkeeping in Quick Books and Excel, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, working closely with the COO and CFO on tactical operations while assisting in budgeting, forecasting, and improving program and operational performance.

Essential Functions
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Prepare invoices as required.
  • Record all receipts, including cash, credit cards, checks, and direct deposits.
  • Assemble information for external auditors.
  • Enter employee expense reports and credit card expenses promptly with proper documentation.
  • Assist the COO and CFO in preparing financial reports for the Board Finance Committee and the Kinnect Board of Directors.
  • Code and enter all invoices accurately.
  • Maintain 1099 forms and support annual filing.
  • Maintain an organized accounting filing system.
  • Compile documents for external auditors for tax filings preparation.
  • Assist with filing annual reports.
  • Develop and implement policies, priorities, and procedures for general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting.
  • Review credit card transactions for proper coding and approvals.
  • Prepare monthly invoices for government grants, contracts, and foundations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Work with funding partners to review and ensure timely/accurate receipt or payment of funding on a monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Maintain accounting records and upload annual budgets into Quick Books.
  • Support the execution of the Strategic Plan for the organization.

Education/Qualifications
  • Minimum three years of experience in general accounting.
  • Non‑profit accounting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of payroll and bookkeeping principles.
  • High initiative for managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication and mathematical skills, including interpreting and presenting accounting information clearly.
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Team‑oriented with excellent relationship building and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Quick Books, Paycor, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Working Conditions
  • Travel required as needed; must have access to own transportation.
  • Occasional overnight travel.
  • Hybrid work model includes remote and on‑site work at Kinnect, partner sites, community events, and direct field service.
  • Standard office equipment will be provided.
