Job Description
Manager, Technical Accounting works within the External Reporting team, which includes the technical accounting function. The role supports the team’s mission by providing clear, complete, accurate and consistent financial information to meet the requirements of both internal and external stakeholders.
Location:
Global Headquarters, Cleveland, OH. The position is not hybrid or remote. A review of criminal history is required due to access to confidential financial information.
- Manage technical accounting processes, including the evaluation and research of accounting matters under US GAAP and interpretive guidance.
- Evaluate and research global matters governed under local GAAP (e.g., IFRS) and other GAAP differences.
- Lead consultations with external accounting firms on technical accounting matters.
- Determine accounting conclusions for unique transactions through research, documentation, and communication with management.
- Prepare accounting memos for external and internal audit and senior finance leadership.
- Communicate technical accounting conclusions to stakeholders with non‑accounting backgrounds.
- Review new accounting pronouncements, assess impact, and document findings.
- Manage the implementation of new accounting standards, including DISE.
- Evaluate transactions involving significant estimates.
- Act as liaison with external audit regarding technical accounting matters.
- Assist the Accounting Center of Excellence (CoE) with ongoing accounting related to ASC 606, 842, 326, etc., including policy development and compliance.
- Lead weekly CoE meetings on open technical accounting matters and track alternative accounting measures.
- Support quarterly control certifications and ad‑hoc requests.
- Partner with external reporting teams on annual and quarterly financial communications, including Form 10‑Q, 10‑K, and proxy filings.
- Support legal and SEC reporting teams in preparation of the annual proxy statement and new disclosures.
- Prepare financial statements, footnotes and other disclosures in Workiva.
- Manage government reporting processes and ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian requirements.
- Resolve issues during government submission processes.
- Co‑mentor and coach team members, provide feedback, and lead weekly technical accounting meetings.
- Participate in projects and non‑routine transactions requiring timely technical accounting support.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, auditing and/or financial analysis.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- At least eighteen (18) years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Big 4 public accounting.
- Technical accounting experience.
- Familiarity with Oracle financial systems, One Stream and/or Workiva.
