About the Opportunity
Our client is a growing consumer products organization seeking a highly motivated Senior Staff Accountant to join its Finance and Accounting team. This role offers the opportunity to play a critical part in the company's financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting business growth initiatives, and contributing to process improvements across the organization.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams, support ongoing ERP optimization efforts, and help maintain strong internal controls while delivering timely and accurate financial information.
Position Summary
The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for key accounting functions including month-end close activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, variance analysis, fixed asset accounting, audit support, and compliance-related activities. This position will also assist with budgeting, forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives while serving as a key contributor to ERP system enhancements and financial process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare and post journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare financial reports and audit-ready documentation.
- Support ERP system optimization efforts, ensuring data integrity and process compliance.
- Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, depreciation calculations, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with regulatory filings and required financial reporting obligations.
- Support the development, documentation, and enhancement of internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external service providers on tax-related matters, including sales/use, property, and income tax support.
- Assist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting activities.
- Develop ad hoc financial analyses and provide meaningful business insights to leadership.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Public accounting, manufacturing, distribution, or consumer products experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, lookups, and data analysis functions.
- Experience working within ERP systems;
Net Suite experience preferred. - Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting ERP implementation or optimization projects.
- Experience with in consumer products, e-commerce, wholesale distribution, or manufacturing environments.
- Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and audit support activities.
