Director of Accounting

A well-established organization in the Cleveland area is looking to add a Director of Accounting to its leadership team. This role sits at the intersection of technical accounting expertise and team leadership, with real influence over how the accounting function operates day to day.

You'll direct the organization's core accounting operations, close, reporting, controls, and compliance, while building and developing the team responsible for getting it right every month.

• Directing monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across the organization
• Ensuring financial statements are accurate, complete, and prepared in accordance with GAAP
• Owning the relationship with external auditors, including audit planning and execution
• Designing and maintaining internal controls that scale with the business
• Overseeing technical accounting research and documentation for complex or non-routine transactions
• Managing, coaching, and developing a team of accounting professionals
• Partnering with FP&A, Treasury, and executive leadership on reporting and financial strategy
• Driving improvements to close timelines, reporting accuracy, and accounting systems

• CPA required;
  Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including direct people leadership
• Strong technical GAAP knowledge and hands‑on close/reporting experience
• Experience managing external audit relationships from the client side
• A track record of developing accounting talent and improving team performance
• Clear, confident communication style - comfortable presenting to senior leadership
