We’re seeking an Accounting Manager who takes true ownership of the books and brings the judgment, discipline, and independence needed to maintain accurate, reliable, and decision-ready financials.

Reporting to senior operational leadership, this role will serve as the primary accounting authority for the organization. You’ll collaborate with an internal team member who supports basic bookkeeping and administrative finance activities. This is a full-time position based in Cleveland, OH. Candidates should be local to the Cleveland area or willing to relocate.
This role combines hands-on execution with significant ownership. You’ll manage the close, reconcile accounts, investigate discrepancies, and maintain clean books while proactively identifying and resolving issues. Success requires someone who can independently assess a problem, determine the appropriate solution, and communicate the outcome clearly to leadership.

The accounting structure is intentionally lean, providing significant autonomy and visibility. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who takes pride in accurate financials, enjoys solving problems independently, and thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

What You’ll Own

  • Monthly close process, completed accurately and on schedule
  • Revenue recognition for contracts and non-standard transaction structures
  • Job costing across projects and service engagements
  • Intercompany transactions and complex or one-off accounting activities
  • Establish consistent standards for transaction recording and provide accounting guidance to internal support staff
  • Identify financial discrepancies, process gaps, and anomalies; independently investigate and resolve issues and communicate findings to leadership
What Success Looks Like

  • Monthly close is completed accurately and on schedule
  • Accounting discrepancies are proactively investigated and resolved
  • Internal team members have clear guidance for recording transactions correctly
  • Project and job costs remain accurate, reconciled, and dependable
  • Accounting processes are documented and structured well enough to maintain continuity without dependence on one individual
What We’re Looking For
  • 4+ years of accounting experience, ideally within a project-, contract-, or service-based organization
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and the ability to apply sound accounting judgment
