The Tone:
This is a fixed-term Audit Internship at the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, located in Cleveland, OH, offering a hybrid work environment. NEORSD is a public utility responsible for wastewater treatment and stormwater management in the region, focusing on public health and environmental protection for Northeast Ohio. This role provides a crucial opportunity to contribute to the financial integrity and operational efficiency of a vital public service by assisting the Internal Audit department with essential data analysis and project support.

The intern will gain hands‑on experience in audit processes and specialized software, contributing directly to departmental objectives.

• Mission:
  Assist the Internal Audit department by performing critical data and report analysis and supporting audit assignments to ensure financial oversight and operational effectiveness within NEORSD systems.

  Microsoft tools, ACL, Diligent Platform

• Data Analysis:
  Perform comprehensive data and report analysis across finance, accounting, purchasing, and other NEORSD systems, utilizing Microsoft tools to collect and present findings.
• Audit Processes:
  Assist with the development of workflows and work plans, while also gaining an understanding of and contributing to internal audit processes.
• Software Proficiency:
  Develop proficiency and integrate with specialized Internal Audit software, specifically learning and applying ACL and the Diligent Platform for audit tasks.
• Departmental Support:
  Prioritize assignments, exercise professional judgment, and assist with various departmental reporting requirements while maintaining professionalism.
• Professional Growth:
  Actively participate in all assigned early talent events, including professional development workshops, networking sessions, and industry exposure activities.

• Background:
  Must be currently enrolled in or have graduated within the past 24 months from an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree program, specifically pursuing or having completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, Audit, or a closely related field.
• Experience:
  
  Ability to commit to a fixed-term assignment of 12 months, working 20-40 hours per week during normal business hours (Monday-Friday), with an option for extension at NEORSD’s discretion.
• Skills:
  
  Demonstrated analytical and data reporting capabilities, particularly with Microsoft tools; strong ability to prioritize assignments and apply sound professional judgment; possession of a valid driver’s license with a driving record compliant with District guidelines.
