Chief Deputy Clerk / Civil Division Cashier Clerk
Position SummaryThe primary purpose of the Cashier Clerk is to receipt filings and payments for new and existing cases in the Civil Division, for marriages performed by the Judges and for payments received from an order from Collections. In addition, create and update the official electronic Court docket by data entry, preparing summons for mailing and/or bailiff service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Initiates, receipts and processes new Civil case filings, which includes data entry; scheduling; receipting; case numbering all papers (including garnishment papers filed with new case transfers); printing of labels; creation of file jacket; preparation and issuance of summons by various service processes (certified mail, regular mail, bailiff); quality assurance review of entered data against source document.
- Receives, processes and receipts new Civil cases and receives new pleadings and collections, scans documents when appropriate.
- Responsible for recording monetary and checking denominations electronically to balance to a Daily Receipt Listing Summary Report.
- Balances cash drawer to a computer-generated transaction report and closes out the computer.
- Verifies all financial transactions to ensure accurate balancing.
- Examine processing for neatness, exactness and accuracy.
- Compares data entered with source documents to ensure that date entry is accurate.
- Create file jacket for each case including attaching labels & placing appropriate Court dates on file jacket.
- Attach color labels to the file to indicate the type of case.
- Provides daily customer service to the public.
- Any duties necessary to ensure the smooth operations of the Clerk of Courts office.

Education and/or Experience- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Clerical skills, i.e. filing, telephone skills, correspondence, proofreading, alphabetizing, etc.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages using a calculator.
