Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide essential clerical and organizational support to ensure smooth daily operations of the Human Resources Department. This role typically involves managing office communications, maintaining employee records, assisting with recruiting tasks, and supporting HR programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the HR Office, greeting walk‑ins, handling incoming calls, emails and inquiries, and directing them appropriately; assist the public with completing applications as needed.
  • Prepare, organize and maintain employee files and confidential documents and serve as records retention expert for the HR office.
  • Coordinate calendars, meetings, interviews, HR events and job fairs.
  • Provide general administrative support such as data entry, ordering supplies, checking the mail, creating agendas, taking minutes at meetings, and preparing reports.
  • Administer a variety of employee related programs and processes including Education Assistant Program, unemployment claims, verification requests, employee spotlight and random drug screening.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to meet the needs of the department and county.
Qualifications and Abilities
  • High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of experience as an office assistant, performing secretarial or clerical type duties.
  • Understanding of office practices, procedures and basic workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in common office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in typing and data entry with attention to accuracy.
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees, and the public.
  • Familiar with records management and document retention practices.

Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities.

Work is generally in a moderately noisy location like a business office.

Work Location

This role must work from the location identified at the time of hire with work travel required as needed. Any change of work location, even on a short‑term or interim basis, must be reviewed by the Supervisor and HR for approval.

Compensation

$17.34/hr.

-$20.00/hr compensation will be based on experience.
