Job Overview
The legal secretary supports multiple labor and employment litigation attorneys (4+) by providing a full range of support, including preparation and revision of correspondence, pleadings, and documents; e-file pleadings; legal research; calendar maintenance; and various office and client filing. The role also involves office-wide administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare/revise correspondence, pleadings, documents and other clerical assignments as directed.
- Handle complex and confidential time‑sensitive material.
- Assist with billing review, inquiries and collections.
- Maintain calendars, CLE, reports and time records.
- Book and organize travel arrangements and expense reimbursement.
- Maintain docketing for litigation attorneys.
- Transcribe electronic dictation and schedule depositions.
- Assist with conflict checks and open new client engagements as requested.
- Communicate regularly with clients.
- Provide backup support to attorneys as needed.
- Participate in office and client filing duties.
- Proofread documents.
- At least 3 years recent litigation secretary experience, including electronic filing.
- Experience supporting labor and employment law matters (a plus).
- Knowledge of state and federal rules and procedures, and procedures with state and federal agencies.
- Solid understanding of technical legal terminology and court filings.
- Experience with trial preparation and briefs.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with law firm software including billing, expense, document management (a plus).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong proofreading skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines, balance workload, and take initiative.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a cooperative, small office environment.
High school diploma or equivalent required; 4‑year college degree preferred.
