DescriptionGENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION :
To provide administrative, logistical, programmatic support to the Office of Public Policy and Advocacy. To support the Director/Team Leader in overall administration and offer hospitality and logistical support to groups coming to DC to engage in education and advocacy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the mission and goals of the United Church of Christ across all programs and ministries.
- Welcome visitors and answer office inquiries over the phone, by mail, or by email; provide general information regarding the work of the office.
- Maintain calendar of meetings, activities and engagements of Washington Office.
- Assist with scheduling, relationship building, and arrangements for visiting groups and individuals.
- Assist in the monitoring of the budget and expenditures, and process payment for the office.
- Assist Office Director/Team Leader in maintaining physical office space, equipment, and systems.
- Develop new digital systems and procedures alongside office staff to ease work.
- Keep office files and archives updated, well organized, and accessible.
- Make travel and housing arrangements as necessary.
- Open, read, sort and answer correspondence not requiring the direct attention of the Washington Office Director.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position.
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3-5 years of administrative experience; knowledge of standard office procedures and proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A college degree or equivalent experience is preferred, or a combination of academic study and experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and perform tasks with minimum supervision.
- Ability to edit materials; proof-reading skills.
- Strong commitment to professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Desire and sensitivity to work in diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious settings with commitment to pluralism in the workplace as well as in one’s understanding of mission.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially as well as independently.
- High degree of computer competence required, including knowledge of MS Office 365. Familiarity with Concur, Blackbaud, and Sharepoint preferred.
- Knowledge of the UCC and its polity and structure is preferred.
This position requires work in the Washington, DC Office at least 3 days/week.
